At the start of 2002 the first syrah and merlot rootstocks began to grow. Specially imported from south-east France, these rootstocks once again showed that they benefit from this type of soil and climate and the painstaking tending provided by their growers.

One of Vinya els Vilars’s secrets is that it produces just 15,000 litres per year of premium quality wine that is meticulously cared for from the vineyard to the end-consumer.

Vinya els Vilars is in the Costers del Segre Denomination of Origen, with six hectares of chalky soil in a Mediterranean climate featuring cold winters, hot summers and low average rainfall.
